FAQ

Are my counselling sessions confidential?

Yes your confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me. As a counsellor I adhere to the code of ethics and the law of privacy.

How is my personal information kept private?

All records are kept in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Amended 2000). Any notes of our counselling session are kept in a locked cabinet or a password encrypted computer and destroyed after a period of seven years.

How long is a counselling session?

I offer 60 minute Skype sessions and 90 minute person to person counselling sessions. Please contact me to book your appointment.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment?

I am able to book an appointment with you within a week to two weeks latest.

Do you offer health fund rebates?

Presently I am unable to offer health rebates.

What if I can’t make my appointment or if I need to cancel?

Since scheduling of a counselling appointment involves the reservation of a time specifically for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment. The full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notification.

How often should I attend a counselling session?

The best outcomes for therapy are possible when counselling appointments are scheduled and attended regularly. Each person is different so together we can determine how often you will attend, based on your needs and schedule. From my experience the clients that have the most positive outcomes from counselling attend every two weeks or at least schedule and attend sessions on a regular basis.

How will I know if you are the right counsellor for me?

Please read the ‘About Me’ section and the pages included on this website. It will give you a good sense of how I work and who I am. I offer a free 10 minute phone consultation where I will ask you about your needs and I will tell you about how I will be able to help you. If you feel that we can work together I can then schedule an appointment for you. If I feel that I am not the best counsellor for you then I will refer you to a counsellor who would be better suited to you and your needs.

What are your counsellor qualifications and training?

I have an Advanced Diploma in Holistic Counselling and a Graduate Certificate in Artistic Therapy and Buddhist Psychotherapy. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
